Career Trek 2026

Over fall break, the GW Sports Business Association brought its annual NYC Career Trek back to New York. On October 12 and 13, twenty graduate and undergraduate students, with Professor Meredith Geisler, spent two days inside nine league and agency headquarters and ended the first night at a GW alumni reception. More than 30 panelists shared their time with the group, and many of them were former Revolutionaries.

It was a fantastic experience for students to network and learn about the opportunities that exist across sports. Over two days, we heard from professionals working in data and analytics, marketing, communications, partnerships, club business development, media and athlete representation, each with a different story about how they got their start.

On Monday, students visited NYCFC, Sportico, the NHL and MLS. Tuesday took the group to THE·TEAM, MLB, Excel Sports Management, the NFL and the NBA. At every stop, panelists walked through the career pathways and opportunities within their organizations, and students took full advantage, asking thoughtful questions and connecting with speakers after each session.

A highlight of the Trek was Monday night's GW alumni reception, hosted by the MLB Players Trust at the MLB Players Association. The evening gave students the chance to meet alumni from across the industry in a networking setting and continue the connections from the day.

Looking ahead, the SBA will keep this momentum going with a virtual career panel featuring Trek speakers on Wednesday, November 4 at 7:40 PM ET.

Thank you to the Trek's planners, Jonah DiGiacomo, Samir Rahman, Luke Brosi, Alex Mattei and Freya Bardulla, and to Professor Meredith Geisler, Dr. Lisa Delpy Neirotti and the SBA Executive Board for all of their support. Thank you as well to every host and speaker who welcomed our students.
