Our Next Spotlight Goes to Bryn Caren!

Introducing our first Social Media Officer, Bryn Caren!

Q: How did you get into sports?

A: I became interested in sports from a young age, as I grew up having an older sibling who was always very involved in activities and sports. We tended to compete quite a bit, and I favored the competition that I realized numerous sports included as well. 

Q: Who is your role model in the sports industry?

A: As a competitive tennis player of many years, my role model in the sports industry would most likely be Serena Williams. I admire her courage and determination, and her ability to not allow outside factors to interfere with her life.

Q: What made you want to work in the sports industry?

A: My love and passion for sports and tennis specifically were some factors that influenced me to want to work in the sports industry. I enjoy being around action and daily activity, and it has been proven that the world of sports contains much of that.

Q: What are you doing this summer?

A: This summer, I am currently a Research, Operations, and Development Intern at the Sports Philanthropy Network.

Q: What experiences do you have working in the sports industry?

A: Some experiences I have had working in the sports industry include serving as a tennis instructor for summer clinics, serving on the Executive Board for GWU's Club Tennis Team as their Member Engagement Correspondent, and my current internship with the Sports Philanthropy Network.

Q: How would you describe your journey and how you got to where you are today?

A: My journey thus far in my academic and professional career has been one that has included highs and lows. I am grateful to have been able to experience opportunities in my life especially relating to sports that have allowed me to continuously work on expanding my network and connections. Remaining positive and having a strong mindset when facing different variations of obstacles that have occurred in my life are additional aspects that have impacted my journey.

Q: What motivates you?

A: Throughout my life, I have been easily motivated by those of whom I chose to surround myself with. When I am faced with difficult or daunting tasks under pressure, I feel as though I perform by best and put forth my strongest efforts.

Q: What is your dream job? 

A: My current dream job would be to work in the tennis division at Octagon.

Q: What is one thing people should definitely know about you?

A: One thing that people should definitely know about me, is that I am very goal-oriented and motivated as it relates to long-term assignments. I tend to finish tasks shortly after receiving them, especially when working on a team with others. I enjoy collaborating with others on projects, and gaining new knowledge and skills on how to be more successful.

Q:What is a fun fact about yourself?

A: I have been actively playing tennis for ten years.
