The Spotlight Goes on Our Final Digital Creative Officer, Sam Chen!
Next up is Sam Chen, our second Digital Creative Officer!

Q: How did you get into sports?
A: I grew up playing all types of sports with my dad, we would spend all afternoon playing different sports like baseball, tennis, basketball, and through that, I developed a passion for all sports.
Q: What made you want to work in the sports industry?
A: Sports is the one thing I truly have a passion for and genuine interest for. In addition to that, from watching and playing sports all throughout my life, sports is also the one thing I am most knowledgeable about.
Q: What is something you wish you had known about going into the industry before college and applying to internships?
A: Don't pursue things for the name brand or for the money. Just do what makes you happy. Don't build relationships to try and get something out of it.
Q: What are your expectations for the upcoming year with the SBA?
A: It's going to be harder to meet as often and bring in new/more members, but have more events online and have more interactive social media.
Q: What kinds of events do you want the SBA to have this year that it hasn’t done in recent years or ever done at all?
A: In the past 2 years I have been in the SBA the events have been exactly the same. I would love to hear more from maybe the retail side of sports or maybe other aspects of sports.
Q: What are you doing this summer?
A: I am currently staying in Taiwan working with the Formosa Dreamers, a pro Taiwanese team. Currently, we are working on restarting and re-structuring the Taiwanese basketball league as well as organizing games and events etc.
Q: What experiences do you have working in the sports industry?
A: Previously I've interned at Nike China on two separate occasions working the All-Asia basketball camp as well as conducting player scouting and bios for them while keeping an eye on chinese talent in the United States during the school year.
Q: What motivates you?
A: To be better (smarter, more educated, more wise, etc) than I was yesterday, a month ago, a year ago.
Q: What is a fun fact about yourself?
A: I've traveled to over 25 different countries
